What is Sentiment Analysis in AI?

Sentiment Analysis in AI is part of the broader Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing arena. It is used to help AI chatbots discover the emotions (sentiment) behind what a person is saying in a text/speech. 

It is a key part of text analysis and linguistics that helps build a useful conversational AI system where humans and bots can interact meaningfully.  

Sentiment Analysis looks to see if the texts are positive, negative or neutral, which will in turn inform the chatbots how best to respond or which way to route the conversation. 

Especially in conversational customer engagement, understanding the sentiment behind what a person is communicating will have an impact on whether the outcome is successful or not.
